Artist CV

Alex Pye is an interdisciplinary artist based in Cumnock, a small farming community in central NSW. She is interested in the idea of ‘Wilderness’ as a part of the ‘Western’ grand narrative that teaches us that we are separate and unique from nature, that the wilderness is an exotic, mysterious and dangerous place. Utilizing performance, video, sculpture and found objects, Alex’s practice seeks to investigate and question how western meta-narratives of the notion of ‘Wilderness’ shape the Australian experience of it.
